Every moon sparks passion
Never do I dream of sleeping
But instead, my mind twinkles in sequence.
All I've ever done, all I've ever known.
Please don't let them show
I do not wish to know.
The first time I ran away from home was when I was four.
And I saw Safeway up ahead during my journey through the shortcut
In the dead of night
The moon shone bright
A lone soul raced
In search of the light
She was being followed by her prey
And had nowhere safe to stay
I hold the broken pieces of my heart
Every daughter needs her father
Life decided otherwise
I can't stop but think its a dream
Envy builds within me
Looking back at that morning
a whole world consumed
cautionary tales of couragous cowards
overbaring and overwhelming,
a loud, brooding foe you can't leave
fear does nothing.
but trust is everything
a light
I loved your flaws the same way I loved taking chances
scary and uneasy just like our first glances
Almost dawn, the first moment I laid my eyes on you
I found my voice out of frustration All I wanted to do was show my creationI desire to be a writer, make worlds for people to get lost inMy greatest fear is that some will say it belongs in a trash binI found my voice when a teacher told me I woul
Because of you, I learned how to love
Because of you, I know love
Because of you, I strive for happiness
Because of you, I know happiness
I think some days
What would I be
If I never speak
Be a normal teen
Let someone else write these feelings
To be part of life
Instead of with a pencil
I find myself lonely
Poetry has taught me how to vocalize with style and power
Instead of hiding in cower.
It helped me express my emotions
And stand tall as a tower.
Poetry has shown me a new perspective
Dear vehicles I drive,
Why?
First, you were the oldest of them
You were sturdy and strong
You held through my inexperience
My unsureness
My fear
Tell me the Story of America
I don't mean the story of red, white, and blue
I mean the story of those with skin of a different hue
Taught to be ashamed
They tell me education is the key to success
the key that will get me out this mess
the key that will present me with a new dress,
walk and flow about me.
Present me as "Doctor" instead of "Mister"
