Money, power, fame,
Idols we worship like gods,
Meaningless chasing.
I am a mistake,
flawed, defective, inner shame,
beliefs about self.
At home, loyalty,
Elsewhere taught independence,
Asian tug-of-war.
No! Where are you really from?
Asians in America,
forever foreign?
Duty and honor,
never bring shame upon us,
ancestors watching.
