Yoki

Location

There was a girl named Yoki

who sat at the bench by the pond

feeding the yellow and blue birds

every morning.

There was a boy

who would sit and watch her,

longing to be her friend.

One sunny Thursday, he went and sat with her.

They sat in silence for hours

until finally some birds came

and she fed them, making sure

each one got its share.

They would sit wordlessly every day

until the boy asked Yoki how

she could wait so tirelessly

for the birds to come.

She replied by saying:

the birds are like a friend. You must be persistent

and patient, and let them know to

trust you.

Only then

will they let you feed them,

and only then will you gain a

friend.
