Humbled by pin drops

Of dust

And of fire

Burning the darkness and filling the nothing

Surrounding her,

She closed her eyes and wished herself

To a night where they couldn’t see her,

Where the skies did not outshine her,

Where their wonder was not a threat

And yet

She craved to be among them,

She craved to be a star.
