tsunami
it was winter when we met
and summer when you left
maybe there’s some irony in that,
but i haven’t found it yet.
as soon as our eyes met,
it was nowhere but up from there.
they say what goes up must come down,
the rain lays heavy in the air.
the flicker before a tear escapes.
your breath lives in me now.
in Him
in us.
the tides stole you back.
back to your true home.
and the green waves that swirled round your irises,
now break on the banks of my cheeks
leaving my face green with envy
of the God who gets to stare into your eyes
for the rest of eternity.
I am changed.
