If I were any man, or any man was I
the first thing we would know
of one another, should we know
anything beyond our way
is we both saw the light of day.
We both walked through onyx nights
said our Cheers! Over beers as fine wine
dripped from lips of countless beauties.
What we might do, if you were I, or I was you
is to fail as all mankind at times must do
then stand up twice for what is true.
Oh, if I were you and you were I
we could talk of what has passed us by
but, I'd prefer we talk of dreams
of mountaintops or seascape scenes
for what is gone is beyond repair
but, what is now is ours to share.
