Tears of Gasoline

Wed, 05/01/2019 - 17:58 -- Myeisa

“I am so frustrated!” the pure hurt ranged through my ears.

“I am so tired of having to get stuff done all by myself.” She wept.

This was my first time seeing her break down.

She was so strong and always upheld her crown.

I looked at her and frowned because I knew I was the reason.

College was approaching fast and before we know it, it would be fall season.

And here she was sulking.

Because of my lazy moping.

College was expensive.

But here I was spending an extensive amount of time on different distractions.

However it was at this moment where her tears ignited a form of passion.

In me— to do better not only for me.

But for my mommy.

I knew at this moment it was my time to grow up

and provide her with sighing relief.

Show her that I was responsible enough and could stand up— on my own two feet.

I didn’t want her to cry out of frustration or defeat.

It’s almost as if her tears were of gasoline.

Because the fire ignited in me.

To go the extra mile to find scholarships—

So that she wouldn’t have to face any hardships.
