Sudden Death of a Forever Friend

When life began

You were already there

Forever my friend

Was unable to see

The unknown end

One day I left

But didn’t know separation

I didn’t second-guess

We’d soon have a reunion

Years passed, sightless

New lives lead

You were different

Words were left unsaid

I didn’t understand

Was the old you dead?

Time flies again

Less time went by but

I see you’re in heaven

Couldn’t wait for me

You departed early

Selfishly, I felt misled

Because you left me for death
