The Strong Rain
The dark clouds roll in
with the promise of rain.
And I sit here staring out the window
with tear stained cheeks,
alone in an empty room
where the shadows creep.
I await the crying of the sky
because in the rain nobody can see tears.
I am not supposed to cry.
I am not supposed to feel sad.
My life is good,
even when it's bad.
I'm supposed to be strong.
I'm supposed to be fine.
And nobody sees that I am dying inside.
My world is fading
like a forgotten dream,
as everyone I know is leaving.
My world is turning from sweet
to bitter as I am abandoned.
My world is turning from light
to dark as I am left to fight alone.
So when I break I shatter,
When I cry I die,
When I am secluded I am abandoned,
When I smile I lie.
Because the strong one
is supposed to be happy,
isn't supposed to cry,
is there to make sure everything is alright.
So I smile
as dark clouds roll in
with the promise of rain.
And I sit here staring out the window
with tear stained cheeks,
alone in an empty room
where the shadows creep.
I await the crying of the sky
because in the rain nobody can see tears.
