Something More

Eyes are our passageways to see the world

In one simple movement, eyes reveal a kingdom of color and life from a realm of darkness

They are always looking, searching for something more

Eyes endure a lot for our sake

They are rubbed, scratched, and flooded

So they can keep looking, searching for something more

Some eyes gaze off into space

Some eyes stay grounded on Earth

Wherever they are, they are always looking, searching for something more

Some eyes are wild

Some eyes are tame

In different ways, they are always looking, searching for something more

We remember people by their eyes

We hold memories like a gaze

As we are watching, they are always looking, searching for something more

Eyes tell great stories of triumph and pain

Eyes will tell what the mouth is afraid to say

Because they were always looking, searching for something more

Eyes are the world’s smallest double edged swords

What we see can be our greatest joy or the source of our undoing

Even when we don’t want them to, they are always looking, searching for something more

And as my eyes are analyzing the words that I type on this page

As your eyes are following my trail and reading this poem

They are looking, searching for something more

Your eyes are more valuable than you will ever realize

They are more awesome, more powerful than people think they are

What else is always looking, searching for something more?

For once, open your eyes

And look for what lies

On the surface, under the surface, at the core

For if you are looking, you will find something more
