Something

Fri, 08/07/2015 - 15:17 -- adotson

When people are in love,

They often cannot explain what it is they love about the person.

They just say,

“It’s something about him,”

Or,

“It’s something about her.”

Give a man a fish and he’ll eat uninspired for a day,

But give him hopes and dreams,

And he’ll stroll to space.

He may not know what he’s chasing,

But he’ll traverse the universe for that elusive something.

I had a history teacher who followed the advice of many before him

And now, I inherit his inherited words:

When faced with a challenge, you may not know what to do.

But do something.

Always do something.

My karate instructor said to never be discouraged by how long your dreams will take.

Why let time and energy deter you from an experience?

In five years, you’ll be five years older, whether you did something or not.

When you don’t know what you’re looking for, it could be anything.

The magic is everywhere, in everything.

So instead of always waiting and searching for the definite,

The definable,

The finite,

Stop for a moment to accept and appreciate

Something.

Something unexplainable,

Possibly unattainable,

Fallible,

Incomprehensible,

But wonderful.

Not yes or no or this or that or a million other things,

But simply

Something.
