The Softest Yell
When I was little
I ensured everyone I had the loudest scream
One that would shake the world
I could feel it brewing up inside me
Begging for an escape
But I wouldn't
Because I didn't want to scare the world away
And no one should learn of my pain
So inside of me it sat
And the many years it grew
Then, the day finally came
I was in the woods
And I looked around
To find nobody
So, I took a deep breath,
Closed my eyes,
Scrunched my face.
An open mouth
Ready to cause a storm
But all that came out
Was silence
And choked up tears
My fears had consumed me
And the world shook me
