yelling

When I was little
I ensured everyone I had the loudest scream
One that would shake the world
I could feel it brewing up inside me
Begging for an escape
But I wouldn't
The screaming
The yelling
It keeps me up all hours of the night
I have grown from this
I am stronger now
I AM YELLING
Can she hear me? Can she see the words falling out my mouth?
Can she see the tears pooling at my feet, can she feel the tension as my fingers crack,
as my lungs seem to give out.
I AM YELLING
I’m afraid of you
I don’t know what to do.
When you yell at me
It’s painful; don’t you see?
I’m jumpy now
And I hope you know how.
Every turn I make
I give myself a little shake.
