Slowly, Quickly

Sat, 02/03/2018 - 14:41 -- magggie

As the weather changes
And seasons pass
I take in the world
Spinning around me
Slowly, quickly

Slowly through the wicked storms
As the rain hits and the lightning strikes
And the thunder cracks
Darkening the sky
causing a scene to glance at through the window

Quickly in the sunshine
In its warmth
and bright rays
As the clouds make a path
For it to reach us on the ground

Slowly through the summer
The warm air and lack of responsibility
Relieves us of urgency
Children smile behind their sno cones
And frolic carelessly at the pool

Quickly through the autumn
When the leaves are orange
The scent of cinnamon and pumpkin greets my nose
The weather briefly pauses between the hot and the cold
To enjoy a crisp, comfortable balance

Slowly through the winter
When the trees are barren
Blankets and fires are a place of refuge
And the cold, bitter atmosphere
Makes it impossible to move outdoors

Quickly through the spring
As bright blossoms of pink and yellow pop out
The birds come home
Everything thaws
And rain falls onto the warm pavement

My journey is filled
With intermittent clocks
Stopping, starting
Moving slowly, quickly
Slowly, quickly
