Self-Reflection

Location

Keller, TX
United States

Her left hand rests palm-down against the mirror,
this hand is relaxed in comparison to her fluttering mind.
Who am I? She wonders.

Her blue eyes are staring deep into themselves;
it is as if the answer were hidden there- just beneath the surface
of her intense baby blues.

It only takes a moment of self-doubt,
she is staring in the mirror, therefore she sees it,
the moment she realizes that she does not know who she is.

A scream of frustration propels from her lips as a jarring, simultaneous gesture
follows with her right hand straight into the mirror.
The mirror shatters beneath her second hand’s motion

And her entire body plummets to the ground.
Who am I? She wonders,
staring at the shards of glass around her feet.
