Raise the Flag

Raise the flag up from half mast.
But be prepared to lower it, this peace won't last.
The flag may be hih for only one day more
before we bring it down, our hearts so sore.

Raise the flag up, let it wave high
but don't forget all those who have died
defending us; or the innocent who were killed.
We will remember how our hearts were stilled.

Raise the flag up, but always bring it down
when innocent blood is spilled on the ground.
The flag will fall with all out tears
And we'll remember this time throughout the years.

Raise the flag, but don't forget
All of the words it leaves unsaid:
"Today is the day when our nation cries
because of the loss of so many lives."

Raise the flag up from half mast,
but remember that this peace won't last.
Sure as the new day brings hope with the dawn
We'll remember the lives that are gone.
