Rain

Pouring down

In unrelenting sheets

Washing all

In its path

Battle-worn soldiers

Pellets of water

That are cold to the touch

Leaving numb traces

And mingling

With salty tears

The sky rumbles

And it groans

With a weary sadness

The landscape blurs

In shades of gray

And a mourning blue

The shadows gather

Amid the splashes

Of blinding white

Greeting visitors

With the gloomy sight

Selfishly pouring

As a symbol

Of the misery

That permeates inside

Piercing the hardened heart

And leaking through

Those bitter cracks

The grieving holes

That for some reason

Were allowed to stay

Even though

It just let the pain grow

Allowed the wounds to fester

To bleed profusely

As nostalgic memories

Regretful errors

Secret dreams

Yearning wishes

While nobody

But the rain

Ever listens.
