Poison Me If You Can
Location
I sweat my soul out
Under bright lights through a lying smile.
Fingers splitting from the wrecking dry heat
in an arid lack of truth.
Salt crusts in the corners of my mouth,
over my cracked lips.
I could water myself with one honest word
But I'll dessicate
Until my perishable lips can't move and betray me.
I am sand,
Sift your hand through me-
See me passable, changeable, blendable.
Impossible to hold on to.
Trees won't grow from me,
I'll drain any potential pairing with life,
Give me stone, rock, bone,
That which cannot be broken down further.
Give me earthquakes, tornadoes, bombs-
I'll sink down below the surface
Unseen
Until the earth forces me up again.
