The Performance
The cheers, the applause, the cries
And I ask them to indulge in this moment
For it will fade
Like a distant memory
And hold it dearly like a trophy
Drop a ball of yarn on the floor
And watch it unravel
The uniform of soldiers,
Each with their own role to play
I say put a slinky on a staircase
And watch it backflip.
It’s a beauteous sight.
