Part II: The Sun Sets Forever
The clock strikes 2 am
As I wait for him
To blow down the doors
The phone rings
That is probably him
I answer it
It was not my husband
Rushing downtown
I run through the doors
Up to his room
Trying to catch my breath
The doctor sees me
He explains there was a brawl
Shots were fired and a bullet
Pierced his right lung
He did not make it
The doctor left me with him
I stared at the corpse before me
A black eye and bruises covered him
At first, I thought I should cry
But why should I
He deserved to die this way
I could not help but smile
I was finally free of this man
My only regret I have
Is that he didn’t die from my hands
