The One Million

The one million

Some fathers

Some mothers

Others are brothers

Or sisters

And sons

Or daughters

They are valuable

They are individuals

Strong, smart, beautiful

There is a problem

The one million are dead

They were murdered

By us

By every member of society who has ever made somebody feel worthless

We didn't pull the trigger

But we placed the gun

Or rope

Or pills

Or knife

In their hands

Our words, our indifference

Is killing the people we love

Without change

In 365 days from now

We'll have killed a million more
