One Earring

He likes them weird

Funny, kind, always

It’s not about the clothes

or the shoes, not about quantity or

anything new.

It’s not about intelligence, it’s not about

It’s not about sex, It’s not

about the thousands.

His love is not about assumptions

or judgments,

Being good enough, or holding

any grudges.

His love is sweet and

forgiving, holding my hair back

seeing only one earring.

With my smeared makeup and

mismatched clothing

Going out in public, always

enjoying every moment.

He’s always sweet and good

to me..

Loving me the way I want to be.

So until that moment

He doesn’t want to be with me, I’ll sit back

wearing my one earring.
