No More

No more hurrying away from the deans,

Frantically pulling down a grey pleated skirt.

No more half-hearted games of basketball

In that unwashed gym shirt.

No more curfews and rules to follow

To stay in your parents' good graces.

No more gossip and petty drama

Stirred up by the same old faces.

And yet,

No more homemade lunches from mom,

Lovingly bagged with a sweet little note.

No more Friday night football games,

Yelling cheers from the back of our throats.

No more fun-filled gymnasium dances,

Dancing and singing so close together.

No more of those same old faces

Who you thought you’d be friends with forever.
