New Me

When one close to you dies

You find yourself in a foreign place

Nothing feels the same

Nothing tasts the same

Nothing works the same.

I recognize the face in the mirror but

I am unsure of who I am looking at

Unsure of  the eyes looking back at me

Unsure of the thoughts in my head

Unsure of even the breaths I take

I don't want to feel this way

I can't stop feeling this way

I have to feel this way

Because I am not who I was

Things are not what they were

I hibernate a bit

I learn to breath in a new way

I experience the world in a new way

Changed by the love that I once had

Though I am not the same person I was before

I learn to love the new me and the world that I live in now
