Something has got to give.

Day after day after day and I don’t even know anymore.

Something has got to give.

They say that change starts with a whisper,

But that’s not true, because every day

We whisper, whisperhappy, whisperscared,

And nobody notices. Every day we deal with the

Same problems and nothing changes. Nothing’s

New.

But I want to change and I need to change

Or else I’ll wither, this heavy skin-bag

Polluted thick with something dark

And unfathomable.

I need to set free what is screaming inside

But it seems so easy to lie back in

Cool contentment. It seems so easy

To pretend.

We need to feel things in loud bursts

Or else we may just die.

Just set aside your phone and look

Only at me. Can I- perhaps-

Persuade you to be new? Can I rub

Away your raw exterior and

Awaken what’s inside?
