morning light

i see you in the morning light,

with silver eyes like the hanging moon

i try to look away, but I’m drawn to you

caught in some sort of morning light spell

in this light you almost seem ethereal,

glowing brighter than any morning sunlight

and I swear I feel my heart beat faster

as I watch your lips quirk into a light smile

but a bitter pang runs through me as I remember

that smile was never really meant for me, anyways
