Mindset of a Child in Divorce

Sometimes I feel like it's all my fault,

like I brought this family down.

Like I'm the reason mama's always crying,

Why dad's never around.

She tries to be so strong,

like no one can tell,

that those red circles around her eyes,

means she is putting herself through hell.

I want to tell her so much that dad's not coming back,

but I can see in her eyes

that she wouldn't believe that.

That she'd shut me down,

She would never listen.

Now I have to watch the tears build up and glisten.
