Loving Father of my youth
Living Father of my youth
Left home, leaving
Silent words of error
Slipping like a ghost
Diving away from me
Messaging memories
My only sign
Dreaming of you
A man of glory
Jammed with loss
Confusion became life
Vacating your old past
Seeking out new life
Minutes became years
Lessons became fate
Mistakes became hope
Discovering a new way
To drift back
Home, where you left
A son who saw a dim light
Older in every form
No anger vents out
Only open arms
Warm tears
Living father of my youth

I like how the speaker in the poem at the end does not get angry at his father for abandoning him in "his youth". It takes a lot of courage and forgiveness to accepted someone who left you behind. May we all learn from this and practice this in our own lives. Keep writing on my friend.
I can relate to this so much, well my father was killed when I was a baby but I don't even know how he's hands felt as he held me.
