Love is Strength, Love is Persistent
A tribute to my grandma’s strength, my grandpa’s battle with Alzheimer’s, and their lesson on what love really is.
Walk in the door to leave once more
Once a day and seven a week
This man- he can no longer speak
But she speaks volumes
In her eyes, her hands, her touch
Tells him she loves him very much
The young may cry
But she’s lived her years
There’s never time to waste on tears
She lifts the cup up to his lips
Makes sure he never slips
A daily thing, you see
Love takes no days off
It sticks around year by year
When one forgets, the other must do
Twice the remembering
Remember, I’ll be here tomorrow
Remember my name- remember yours
Remember I love you.
