love requires two

If love is a fire burning brighter by the hour

Does it require fuel or burn by its own power?

It always begins in each of us the same

A spark from the eyes,a smile, a flame

But what builds over time eventually requires

The beating heart of another to sustain the fires

If left to only burn within our chests unpaired

It backfires, blowing out what was to be shared

Ashen and buried dead, it can never be exhumed

Love requires two or else ends, all consumed
