Lilac Petals

What makes a child innocent?

The seafoam blankets he brings to day care everyday

The lilac petals she lays her head on a night

Curious minds roam the earth searching for forbidden love

Looking for an individual to say those three magic words

I love you

when he slammed the door in my face and screamed

I love you I realized

Just how happily I ate up that cardboard sentence

everyday single day

It’s the most magical song some people will hear

But I want to come home mommy

My lilac petals are turning gray

My seafoam blanket is floating away
