Kayoke (Silent e)
I pitched a tent at Kayoke
Among desert sands around
Grown tired of reg’lar folk
To wilderness I am bound
I sang a song so merry
Having guzzled beer and wine
Savor sweet of the berry
Oh livin’ a life so fine
I called out to the wild
To nature beckoning me
A verdict fought and trialed
Seizing lonely life the plea
I ran through the night alone
Looking up at endless stars
Society I don’t bemoan
Escaped urban city’s bars
I pitched a tent at Kayoke
No skyscrapers in sight
Grown tired of reg’lar folk
I’ve climbed to the highest height
I drove the steers to the herd
With longhorns careless roam
When the desert cats all purred
Them running from white sea foam
I journeyed all the miles
Always searching for my soul
Away from bins and files
Rattlesnakes my rock and roll
I’ve merged with my surrounding
Feel my body is at peace
No more my heart is pounding
Hardship has begun to cease
I pitched a tent at Kayoke
A life filled with solitude
Grown tired of reg’lar folk
Thought new life’d change my mood
I do miss the city buzz
Feel amiss without no friends
Said oh heck well just because
Sandy paths without no ends
I stay awake each every night
Hallucinate my company
Wish for that glowing streetlight
And my one horn symphony
I feel crushed by the moon
Drove crazy by loneliness
Know that I’m gonna die soon
