Kali

In India are sacred hidden pools

They can’t compare to your eyes’ flashing depths

Nor ripened lips themselves dark ruby jewels

nor teeth like pearls, your sighs and whispered breaths\

I drift in nights of tropic humid dark

Enraptured by the hint of censored dreams

You sang to me, as does the passioned lark

Desire closed my mind to all your schemes

White thighs like hand-worked opal smooth and pale

Can wrap my soul in lust or crush my heart

Your promises mean nothing-I must fail

To keep you close, it rends my soul apart

All women are the Goddess in disguise

Redemption and destruction in their eyes
