Ironic Loneliness

I was too young the first time-

And it is only one time for now.

And why shouldn't you have another try?

But now,

unlike before,

even through your cloudy eyes,

you see his war decorations

silently slip out of his mind,

even if he doesn't. But

this time,

I'm not seven

I know what follows, but

this time,

I'm not blind.

I can see

your ironic loneliness
