Inheriting the World

 'Seize the day' they say,

or else you'll fade away.

This is the final age,

before we take the stage.

The golden age of seventeen,

we dance in childhood's final scene,

and turn our faces to the sky,

it's now our turn to try to fly.

Our final first day of the year,

excitement, joy, and also fear.

The break of dawn does end the night,

and dusk consumes the day's last light.

The time for playing in the park,

is gone; it's time to make our mark.
