Impending Loss

Matronly, maternal mother you are not.

Nurturing mother of love,

Narcissus dances through your mind.

With every rejecting shove

You cannot comprehend

The breach I feel inside.

How will it feel when I need a hug?

To whom will I turn for maternal love?

Woe in life,

But love in death.

Impending loss cuts like a knife

Through the doting child's flesh.
