If I Could Change the World Today

If I could change the world today, there's one thing I would do.

I'd reach down deep in every soul and set each heart anew.

There's so much anger that we hold and selfishness no doubt.

But God intended something else for us to be about.

He told us that we should love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

But Satan grabbed ahold of us and showed us something else.

He opened up our eyes to evil, he tempted us with sin.

And now we have to fight each day to change what is within.

So if I changed the world today, here's what I would do

to change the hearts of every man, including me and you.

I'd restore the patient, selfless love that God once did intend.

And everyone would act in forgiving ways when we must make amends.

Imagine if there were no harsh words, no gossip to detest.

Mothers wouldn't fear for their children when they left the nest.

The world would be a safer place, crime would not exist.

And broken people everywhere would have the love they'd missed.

Lots of things need a change to make this world a better place.

But the most important of them all is humbleness and grace.

I must admit it this observation sounds a little strange.

But if I changed the world today, these are the things I'd change.
