I wanted to tell you what you mean to me

People ask you why you like him

Why did you choose him above everyone else?

You smile slowly

It isn’t a simple question

So there isn’t a simple answer

He takes me to a place no one else can

He’s gentle

Tender

Perhaps the most gentle person I’ve ever met

He wouldn’t ever hurt me

Not if his life depended on it

He has a gorgeous smile

And a contagious laugh

His anger too,

Draws me in

A quiet magnetism

It’s a silent wrath

Terrifying

But it’s never aimed at me

So it intrigues me

He’s comfortable in his own skin

And that puts me at ease too

He’s drop dead gorgeous

And that’s an added plus

But that’s not why I love him

He draws

And isn’t afraid to admit it

Like some guys I know

He loves the outdoors

But can also be happy

And comfortable

In a tux

I like that

He does what he wants

When he wants

But he always has time to do what I want

I like that, too

He’s good with his siblings

He’s gentle with them

I like that

But he has imperfections, too

They make him more real

Even more perfect,

In their own way

Like his lopsided smile

He’s self conscious about it

But I like it

He isn’t always close with his mom

They have their outs

That makes him more real

Sometimes

His siblings drive him crazy

And he goes off on them

Sometimes

He forgets

Important things

But that’s OK

It makes him more real

More perfect

In this imperfect way

There are so many more reasons

Do you need them?

See?

It isn’t a simple question

It takes time to answer

At least, it should

And when you walk away,

There should always be more answers bursting at the seams
