She gallops toward me.
I watch transfixed as her flaxen mane is grabbed
By the invisible fingers of the wind.
She whinnies with sheer delight at seeing me.
My fingers are entwined in her hair as I breathe into her shoulder,
Smelling her sweet, horsey scent.
Then, suddenly, I have flung myself onto her back.
We are running, no, soaring through the fields.
We are no more two creatures, we are one.
I feel the wind whistling past my ears, playing with my hair,
As the sun dances along the grass.
All too soon, I wake up,
Disappointed that it was only a dream.
