I miss you very much,
But you’re never coming back.
In this world of color,
Yours is solid black.
I don’t know what happened,
I just know you’re not here.
I remember all the good times
And feel as if you are near.
We go to both of the funerals
And all the extra bits,
Everyone talks about you,
And then the realization hits.
You are gone, and I am not,
It all becomes so real.
As I realize you’re truly gone,
The casket is silently sealed.
You’re lowered in the ground.
I look to the sky.
I glance back as we drive away,
And say a quiet, “Good-bye…”
You were my second dad
When I was a little girl
You were a cherished friend,
And a glowing pearl.
I miss you very much,
But you’re never coming back.
In this world full of life,
It’s the one thing you lack.
