I look around me, and what I see

are giants, towering, mastering, so alive.

They build and create monuments--no room for me--

While I am merely an ant, no matter how I strive.

They hold the sun, the moon, the stars in the sky,

and I merely fireflies kept in a jar at home.

I can't grasp their towering skyscrapers that stretch so high.

They forge the future, while I am alone.

But, progress accumulates with time.

No one ever notices the defiant poking stem;

To the top the once-tiny seed reaches at the end of a long climb...

And one day, I will be among them.
