Flesh
Fingertips slide across my lips,
And joy floods to my soul.
Blood rushes to my skin,
I blush away,
I feel the sin.
Why on earth am I this way?
Yearning and burning
Not turning away.
But out of the darkness
And into the likeness
Of all that I hate of me
In you.
Flesh feeds flesh when flesh is weak.
Strength breeds strength in time of need,
When warriors cry, soldiers die
And a mother prays to the Most High.
Play your wits with all you know
Shine your light, let it glow
For every heart on its own
Desperately searching,
In need of a home.
