First Love

Long forgotten in the pages of your life,

What we had was a love like all the others

The build up to the break down.

Conversations of us wed, and I️ your loving wife

But now you belonged to another

As she walked down the aisle in the wedding gown.

We weren’t meant to be,

But that doesn’t stop me loving you.

A chance with you? I’d wait for centuries

I️ imagine loving nights by the Christmas tree,

Or summer days at a barbecue

But soon, if not already,

I️ will be just another name in a sea of memories.
