A Farewell To Depression
Location
I walk with anticipation,
Pride, relief, and almost peace
The time has come to see you off
We walk into the train station
I glance around with delight
Open with energy, I can already see my future
Not so long ago,
My vision of the future was disappearing
You, Depression, were fading it away
But through years of fighting
I finally learned strength
Enough to tell you to get out of my life:
“You have known me too long
I won’t stand for this any longer
I’m sending you away on the trains”
With reluctance you agreed to leave
While still clutching my wrist
With your deathly cold metallic fingers
Now, you claw at me as I buy your ticket
“A one-way ticket for one” I Request
This will be the end of us
Ripping your fingers from my skin
I command you to board the train
For the first time, it is I in charge
I can see you inside the train
That’ll be the last time ever
I wave farewell to you for this life
I recovered, I kicked Depression out
I am aware now
Of how wonderously amazing I actually am
As the train leaves the station
A warm wind stirs the air,
And a fire is lit in my heart
