That Extra Mile

What is a mistake if we along with everyone around us cannot learn and benefit from it? Too many of my family members, friends, teachers, this generation and ones before me have been effected by numerous heath issues such as:
Coronary heart disease
Type 2 diabetes
Cancers
Hypertension
Dyslipidemia
Stroke
Liver and Gallbladder disease
Sleep apnea and respiratory problems
Osteoarthritis
Gynecological problems
And all these stem from obesity alone. So what makes me run the extra mile? My desire for change. My want for a healthier future. A generation that can thrive because we don’t have these forced and self-inflicted health issues to worry about. My want for a generation that can stop killing ourselves because we can afford the healthy foods we need to keep our bodies in shape. My desire to see my little sisters, my cousins, and all little children to grow up and become something great. My want for the average life expectancy to be exceeded, for no one to be able to stamp my life expectancy on the bottom of my foot because of the unhealthy foods I consume. Wanting to travel and bring health to other nations around the world. Empowering others, by assuring them they can have access to the nutrients needed to stay alive. What makes me run that extra mile is watching my own grandma mother have to prick her finger three or four times a day, to make sure she has the right amount of sugar in her system in order that she may stay alive. What makes me run that extra mile is witnessing my grandmother, two aunts, step mother, father, cousin, all have to go through cancer treatments, because growing up, whether or not they could put nourishment into their bodies was determined by determined by how much money they had in their pockets, which was never enough. What makes me run that extra mile is always hearing “if only they took better care of themselves”. Also knowing that while running that extra mile, those who stopped a mile before me, and who have just began running, are all looking at me, and somewhere in that crowd is a face that will be inspired, a life that will be changed, a smile that will appear, and a future that will be bright.
People can want for me all the good in this world, but if I don’t want it, there is nothing that anyone can do that will help me get it. What makes me run that extra mile is wanting things for myself , and when I want for myself, I want for the world, because I believe that I will make a difference, I believe that I can change the world. But who ever got anywhere beyond the marks of achievement that man has already made without running that extra mile?
