Expecting a Flood

It starts out small.

Do your laundry.

So minuscule. A drop on the windshield with plenty of time for the wiper blades to save you.

Wrist ticking, more drops fall

Math assignments

Voice lessons

Scholarship dinners.

The clouds get thicker, falling like a storm.

Test

Band concert

Play rehearsal

Pick up the sister

Do the dishes

Clean the cage

Scrub don’t stop

The wiper blades fly off

Rain pours down.

Expectations come drilling at you in a million places.

Be better

Do better.

Oh and by the way be funny

Be unique

How do you expect that too?

What more do you want?

The Storm stops.
