Ex-Fear

I told another lie today

I pretended I was well

Covered the bruises, hoped they'd fade

Because you told me not to tell.

Though I whispered, "please stay"

I want it to be over,

And I wish you'd go away.

I'm going to blow your cover.

I don't fear life without you

It's really what I need.

I need to be rescued

Because all is not as it seems.

I want to tell the truth,

Done with "what will he do to me?"

I'm done fearing change, and you,

What I fear more, you see,

Is hiding your wicked deeds.
