Every Step
I grow weary with every step I take,
down the endless broken path.
My head grows heavy with every breath,
my vision blurring through a swarm of tears.
My heart is full of sorrow,
for I just saw someone dead.
I know they will leave him be,
but that does nothing for my heart.
I am nowhere near the ocean,
yet there is salt in my mouth.
My body is on fire with heat,
my soul is crumbling.
My feet are burning,
for I walk with no shoes.
Life is not the way it once was,
a continual end of draws.
