Despite the Fact

I’d say that I don’t mean to brag

Though boastings my intent

It’s just that, unlike some people,

With myself I am content.

Not to mean that I don’t find

Errors in my way;

All the grains of sand wouldn’t suffice

The mistakes made in my day.

But there come a time when one must decide

What road that one should take,

And me, I chose to better myself,

Not for anyone else, but my own sake.

And though at times I tumble down

To the darkness and despair,

The light of hope calls me up

Despite the weights I bear.
