The Day I Rose
She stood on the railing of
Black Bridge
And maybe you couldn't hear it,
the sound of her heart;
But the beating was rapid.
And the rapids below the bridge
Engulfed her hearing
She refused to look down,
Not because she was afraid
But
Because she didn't want to see,
She didn't want to see the water
And rocks that could potentially
End her life,
But she couldn't place the burden of a life
On their hands
As this was her own decision,
To get away,
Though not from the word she once
Thought she possessed, but from the
Pain
That possessed her.
She closed her eyes,
Inhaled the thin oxygen
Spread her arms out wide
Leaned and
Let gravity overtook
She opens her eyes,
Looking amongst the room
Full of students
Ready to radiate hope to those
Who had lost it
Like her.
She smiles, pleased
That she arose from the water.
